Job description

Purpose of Job

We are seeking a visionary and collaborative deputy director to lead the co-creation and transformation to the future of laboratory operational excellence in a biomedical research intensive organisation.

This role will play a central part in designing and delivering the operational framework that will support our integrated research community. Working closely with leadership and a broad range of stakeholders, the role will lead the design and development of harmonized operational processes, build centralised support structures and ensure a seamless move to our new facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Operational Integration and Transformation

  • Lead the design and implementation of integrated operations across the various entities and functions, addressing and balancing the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Drive the transformation and harmonization of lab operations, shared research infrastructure, core services, procurement consumables supply, and inventory management systems.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management

  • Facilitate the various working groups to co-develop future-state processes and systems.
  • Act as the central liaison between research users, operational teams, and external consultants.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth transition and strong buy-in across all levels, including culture-building, communication, and stakeholder engagement

Project Management & Execution

  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables related to the operational harmonization. Coordinate across facility, IT, procurement, compliance, and lab operations teams to ensure aligned execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in science, engineering, business, or related fields
  • At least 10 years of experience in operations management, project development, or transformation roles, preferably in a biomedical research, academic, or healthcare environment.
  • Proven track record in leading complex, multi-stakeholder changes initiatives.
  • Experience with research laboratory operations and core facility management
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Possess Project management certification (e.g., PMP)
