Job description

Job Purpose:

The Deputy Design Head assists the Design Head in managing the overall design function. This role ensures operational effectiveness in delivering high-quality designs, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and maintaining client satisfaction. The Deputy acts as a key decision-maker in design matters and supports the implementation of the design strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day design operations and lead teams across architectural, structural, and M&E disciplines.
  • Review and provide detailed technical guidance on design submissions, shop drawings, and technical clarifications.
  • Coordinate design integration and resolve clashes or conflicts arising from multi-disciplinary interfaces.
  • Oversee the preparation of design schedules and ensure timely delivery of design milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and construction teams to anticipate and mitigate design-related issues.
  • Lead client and consultant design review meetings and assist in resolving design-related queries and variations.
  • Mentor and develop senior and mid-level design staff, promoting a culture of quality and continuous learning.
  • Assist in resource planning and workload distribution within the design team.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate design standards, health and safety, and sustainability requirements.
  • Support risk management and design quality assurance programs.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 8 –12 years of design experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong technical expertise in construction drawings, regulations, and BIM processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex projects.
  • Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM coordination tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading multidisciplinary teams.
