Job description

Job Purpose

The job-holder is responsible to assist the specialists in dental care delivery according to established hospital policies, procedures and standards of dental care and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

• Providing four‑handed chair‑side assistance to specialists in dental treatment and procedures for various disciplines.
• Ensuring that instruments and materials are ready for each appointment and maintaining proper maintenance of dental instruments.
• Complying with Infection Control and maintaining Infection Control Standards.
• Complying with work safety regulations in handling of dental instruments and equipment.
• Assisting in cleaning, sterilising, sorting and packing of instruments in the general sterilisation area.
• Managing inventory in the assigned dental operatory and assisting in stock ordering.
• Assisting with patient appointments.
• Collaborating and cooperating with clinicians and other health‑care providers in the smooth delivery of dental care and services.

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)

• Participating in service quality activities.
• Coaching and guiding junior staff in dental assisting (For Dental Surgery Assistant role).
• Assuming additional responsibilities as assigned by Clinic Supervisor/Clinic Manager.
