Marymount Bakehouse is a small, independent sourdough bakery and café with a focused menu, tight team, and high standards. We are seeking an experienced Commis Chef to assist the chef owner in managing sourdough production and hot kitchen café service with support from our part-timers.

This is a full-time, hands-on role with structured training in our sourdough program — ideal for someone serious about developing their skills and growing with us.

What You'll Be Doing:

This role involves both Bakery Production and assisting the Head Chef in hot side preparations.

Responsibilities:
  • Mix, shape, and bake sourdough breads and pies daily
  • Prepare and plate hot dishes for dine-in (tartines, pastas, flatbreads)
  • Make fresh pasta doughs and prepare garnishes
  • Clean bannetons, ovens, tools, and workstations
  • Handle packing and manage basic inventory
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
  • Guide part-timers and communicate effectively with the team
  • Stay organized, focused, and consistent with routines
Who We're Looking For:
  • 1–2 years of professional kitchen experience (commis or CDP level)
  • Ability to commit long-term and take ownership of tasks
  • Comfortable with routine, repetition, and maintaining cleanliness
  • Willing to learn sourdough baking (training provided)
  • Ability to manage station during service and follow systems
  • Willing to work early mornings and weekends
