Job summary

SAFRA National Service Association seeks an Assistant Director, Defence Advocacy to shape SAFRA's Defence Engagement strategy and connect with National Servicemen, their families, and the wider community. This role leads innovative engagement models, partnerships, and platforms to inspire participation, strengthen Defence identity, and build lifelong NS connections across MINDEF, clubs, and industry.

Qualifications

• Education in a relevant field or equivalent experience in Media, Films, Strategic Studies, Public Policy, Communications, Marketing, Museum Studies, Education.
• At least 10 years of work experience with strategy, innovation, partnerships, transformation, community engagement, product management, service design, policy implementation or stakeholder engagement.
• Familiarity with Defence-related programmes and innovative community engagement is an added advantage.
• Experience coordinating with institutional or public sector stakeholders with approvals, assurance and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Shape and guide the design of defence-themed programmes, ensuring alignment with approved narratives, desired sentiment and learning outcomes.
• Create meaningful, insight-driven experiences and programmes that deepen engagement with NSmen, their families and future generations.
• Support Secretariat functions for strategic platforms such as the Defence Engagement Steering Committee (DESC), including preparation of papers, reporting and action tracking.
• Lead capability development by equipping Clubs, Events teams, volunteers and stakeholders with programme toolkits, content guidance and training to deliver high-quality defence advocacy.
• Develop compelling Defence narratives and engagement campaigns that reinforce the value of NS and community resilience.
• Implement performance tracking frameworks across programmes and communications, using insights on engagement, sentiment and learning outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
