Job summary

PCSS in Singapore seeks a data engineering professional to join a team responsible for building and maintaining data systems and pipelines. The role involves setting up and supporting data platforms and collaborating with colleagues across disciplines.

You will work with Linux, SQL/NoSQL databases and modern data tools to improve data warehouses and data lakes, while documenting configurations and improvements. Strong ownership and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related technical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data systems or pipelines.
• Set up, install, configure, troubleshoot, and upgrade for COTS products.
• Develop or implement ways to improve data warehouses, data lakes or equivalent platforms.
• Create design documents, troubleshooting guides, and other documentation.

Pre-requisition:

• Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline.
• Able to work independently as an individual contributor while maintaining strong communication skills to collaborate smoothly with the team.
• Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership to drive tasks independently.

Job Description:

• Be part of a team to build and maintain data systems or pipelines.
• Perform setup, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and/or upgrade for COTS products.
• Develop or implement ways to improve data warehouses, data lakes or equivalent platforms.
• Involve in the creation of documentations e.g. design documents, troubleshooting guides etc.

Technical Skill Sets:

• Knowledge and/or experience in data management or data engineering.
• Experience with Linux commands and shell script.
• Knowledge and/or experience in relational (including SQL) or NoSQL database (e.g. document, graph).
• Knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following will be an advantage:

- Data / Search / Automation platforms such as Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Ansible respectively

- Data integration tools such as Talend, DataStage, Denodo

- Programming languages such as Python, Spark

- Analytics platforms such as Databricks, Dataiku, Data Robot
