  • Tune queries, optimize indexing, and analyze execution plans across database engines.
  • Optimize high-volume transactional and large-scale analytical workloads.
  • Conduct capacity planning and resolve performance bottlenecks across database, query, and infrastructure layers.

Backup, Recovery & High Availability

  • Implement and manage backup/recovery strategies, HA solutions, and DR setups.
  • Perform regular backup validation, restoration testing, and support DR exercises to meet RTO/RPO targets.
  • Investigate and resolve performance degradation, data inconsistencies, replication failures, and query inefficiencies.
  • Participate in major incident response and root cause analysis (RCA), implementing preventive measures.
  • Manage cloud-based database workloads (AWS RDS, EC2, Snowflake).
  • Implement best practices for security, scalability, and cost optimisation.
  • Support data integration pipelines and collaborate on cloud architecture and deployments.

Monitoring, Automation & Tooling

  • Maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging using CloudWatch, Grafana, Splunk.
  • Develop automation scripts for maintenance, monitoring, housekeeping, and optimisation tasks.

Security, Compliance & Governance

  • Enforce access controls, encryption, audit logging, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support audits and provide documentation/evidence as needed.

Release & Deployment Support

  • Support database changes and application releases, including schema updates, data migrations, version control, and rollback planning.
  • Validate post-deployment changes and coordinate with application/infrastructure teams.
  • Maintain database documentation, SOPs, runbooks, incident reports, and RCA.
  • Drive improvements in performance, automation, and operational efficiency.

Operational Support

  • Participate in after‑hours support for maintenance windows, deployments, and critical incident response.
