Job description

[What the role is]

You will be responsible for the administration and management of the enterprise databases which support ITE businesses. This involves working closely with the various stakeholders from project implementation to subsequent maintenance and operational support. You would need to be able to plan, design, install and upgrade databases located on-prem as well as on Microsoft Azure. Scope of work will also include capacity planning, backup recovery procedures, performance tuning and applying security patches to meet the ICT standard and policies. All these are to ensure availability, optimal performance and compliance. In addition, you will also need to manage access and application changes through the data and change request process.

[What you will be working on]

Daily Operation and Administration

  • Manage and maintain database standards, integrity, and access rights.
  • Attend to database service requests such as DML and data queries, deployment of PeopleSoft Projects via PeopleTools and Data Mover for Oracle as well as deployments on MSSQL databases (Azure SQL / Managed Instances / Databricks);
  • Ensure smooth operation of database servers, services and connectivity with relevant application systems;
  • Perform daily DB server health checks as well as login failures assessments; and
  • Ensure databases are backup successfully.

Incident Management and Recovery

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and rectify database errors and issues; and
  • Perform database recovery and restoration from backup.

[What we are looking for]

  • Minimum 3 years of working experiences in database administration with MSSQL and Oracle Databases in production environments across different versions and platform (Windows/Redhat Linux/Solaris), including Microsoft Azure IaaS / PaaS
  • Certification in cloud technology would be an added advantage
  • Experiences in supporting, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to databases and associated applications such as Oracle PeopleSoft
  • Experience in RMAN and Veritas NetBackup for performing backups, restoration and recovery for the databases.
  • Experience with SQL Server Always-On; and
  • Familiar with Oracle Dataguard
