Job summary

Search Index Pte Ltd is seeking a Database Engineer to administer and optimize databases across on‑premise and cloud environments in Singapore. You will manage DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Snowflake, ensure high availability, and support OLTP/OLAP workloads with strong SQL and performance tuning skills.

The role requires 3+ years in database engineering, experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS/EC2, Snowflake), and a proactive approach to monitoring, security, and automation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on database administration/engineering experience.
• Experience with DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake.
• Strong SQL scripting and query optimization skills.
• Knowledge of HA/DR, replication, and performance tuning.
• Experience with monitoring tools Grafana and Splunk is a plus.
• Willing to work after-hours maintenance and incidents.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain databases including DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake.
• Support OLTP/OLAP environments and monitor health checks.
• Optimize performance via query tuning, indexing, and execution plans.
• Manage backups, recovery, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) processes.
• Troubleshoot incidents, resolve database issues, and conduct RCA.
• Support cloud DB environments (AWS RDS/EC2, Snowflake) and ensure security and scalability.
• Maintain monitoring/logging tools and develop automation scripts.
• Support database releases, schema updates, and deployments.
• Maintain documentation and SOPs; drive continuous improvement.

Job Scope:

• Administer and maintain databases including DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake.

• Support OLTP/OLAP environments and perform routine monitoring and health checks.

• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.

• Manage backup, recovery, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) processes.

• Troubleshoot incidents, resolve database issues, and conduct root cause analysis (RCA).

• Support cloud database environments (AWS RDS, EC2, Snowflake) and implement security and scalability best practice.

• Maintain monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, Splunk) and develop automation scripts where applicable.

• Support database releases, schema updates, and deployments.

• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• Possess a Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on database administration/engineering experience.

• Experience with DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud platforms (AWS RDS/EC2, Snowflake).

• Strong SQL scripting, stored procedures, and query optimization skills.

• Good understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, replication, and HA/DR concepts.

• Experience with monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk) is an advantage.

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skill.

• Self-driven team player willing to support after-hours maintenance and incident activities.
