Job summary

Actxa Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based deep tech company, invites a data science student in their final year or Year 3 to join as an intern. You will support data scientists in healthcare research, handle data collection and preprocessing, and help prototype data-driven health insights using ML and DL methods.

Exposure to generative AI and LLMs will be explored. The role emphasizes hands-on experimentation with AI tools, documentation of findings, and potential co-authorship of research publications

Qualifications

• Pursuing a data science/CS/engineering degree in final year or Year 3.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; R is a plus.
• Solid understanding of machine learning; knowledge of signal processing is a plus.
• Familiarity with LLMs and related frameworks is beneficial.
• Interest in digital health, wellness and fitness domains.
• Positive attitude, adaptable and eager to learn new tech.

What will you do?

• Assist data scientists in performing public healthcare research and development in line with the organization's vision within the digital health and wellness domain
• Perform on-site or off-site data collection, data organization, storage and processing
• Develop data-driven solutions and insights using data mining, statistical modelling, machine learning and deep learning methods
• Explore and prototype applications of generative AI and large language models (LLMs) for personalized health insights and behavioral nudging
• Use AI-assisted tools (e.g. coding assistants, AI research agents) to accelerate analysis, development and literature review, while critically validating their outputs
• Perform algorithm testing and validation, including evaluation of AI and LLM model outputs
• Documentation of research, experiments and modelling findings/results
• Opportunity to be the co-author of our research publications

Requirements

What are we looking for?

• Year 3 or final year in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
• Passionate about data science and good working knowledge of Python and SQL (R is a plus)
• Good understanding of machine learning is required; experience in signal processing is a plus
• Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, or frameworks such as Hugging Face, LangChain or LLM APIs is a plus
• Keen interest in digital healthcare, wellness and fitness domain
• A 'go with the flow' and positive attitude, adaptable to change and energetic
• Passionate about learning and working with new technologies, including using AI tools in day-to-day work
• A natural tenacity, resilience and determination
