Job summary

Rimes is seeking a Data Modeling Engineer to work hands-on with financial datasets, ensuring accurate structures and readiness for downstream pipelines.

You will build and validate data models, collaborate with Data Engineering to deliver ETL/ELT-ready schemas, and document definitions for cross-functional teams. Ideal candidates have 1–3+ years in data modeling and finance data, with a strong eye for quality.

Qualifications

• Experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Strong knowledge of relational and dimensional modeling.
• Proficiency in SQL and basic Python for profiling and validation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new datasets to understand structure, fields, data types, and quirks before ingestion.
• Identify inconsistencies, missing fields, formatting issues, or schema gaps and flag what needs adjustment.
• Build and update data models (tables, relationships, hierarchies) based on real dataset behavior.
• Test sample data against models to ensure mappings, assumptions, and transformations are correct.
• Work closely with Data Engineering to translate models into ETL/ELT-ready schemas.
• Document field definitions, data relationships, and handling rules clearly for internal teams.
• Review provider schema updates and adjust models to maintain alignment.
• Support data quality improvements by applying model-level fixes and ensuring consistent patterns.
• Contribute to improvements in modeling standards, documentation, and internal processes.
