Date: 7 Aug 2026

Our GCOO organisation is critical for HSBC. This team partners closely with business teams to drive simplification and deliver exceptional customer outcomes in Asia and the Middle East region which covers 26 markets, 600+ offices and branches, and more than 140,000 employees. By strengthening our control environment and enhancing risk management, we drive operational excellence and enable the bank to deliver focused and sustainable growth in this super-region.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Data Governance Manager.

In this role you will:

  • Lead Singapore’s BAU data governance cadence, running stakeholder routines, tracking actions, and driving standards adoption aligned to Group Data Policy and local requirements (Data Management, Data Privacy, ILM/Record Keeping).
  • Design and embed sustainable governance operating models for oversight, regulatory engagement, and continuous monitoring, with clear ownership, metrics, and measurable outcomes.
  • Maintain and continuously improve governance playbooks and templates to enable consistent, right-first-time adoption across stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight of data initiatives and control implementation across BAU and change, ensuring solutions are embedded, sustainable, and audit-ready.
  • Identify thematic data risks and control weaknesses, assess impact, and drive remediation, escalation, or exception/risk acceptance with accountable owners.
  • Align data governance controls with Operational Risk, Regulatory Reporting, and Information Security frameworks to avoid duplication, close gaps, and strengthen end-to-end coverage.
  • Own Singapore’s data quality operating process (monitoring, issue management, remediation governance), driving transparency on root causes, prioritisation, and measurable improvement.
  • Own MI/KRI reporting and governance forums, documenting decisions/actions to closure; represent Singapore priorities in Cluster/AME and global forums and manage demand into Global/Regional CDAO utilities via a transparent, prioritised backlog.

To be successful you will need

  • Strong experience in data governance/data management risk & controls within banking or financial services, including country-level oversight and delivery.
  • Bachelor’s degree (business, finance, technology or related), or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of governance/control concepts: ownership/stewardship, data quality, metadata/lineage, ILM/retention, and operating model embedment.
  • Proven experience implementing enterprise standards (e.g., Group Data Policy) and meeting local regulatory requirements (including privacy and records/retention).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to influence across 1LoD/2LoD, Compliance, Technology/Operations, Information Security and Regulatory Reporting.
  • Experience using analytics/automation to improve MI and monitoring is advantageous.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
