Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data platforms and analytics-ready datasets. You will work with cloud data platforms like Microsoft Fabric and Azure to implement medallion-architecture data solutions.

The role targets junior to mid-level candidates with a strong foundation in SQL, data modelling, and Python/PySpark. You will collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to enterprise data capability-building within government ICT standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Understanding of ETL or ELT concepts, data pipelines, data warehousing, lakehouse architecture or analytics platform support.
• Good foundation in SQL and data modelling concepts.
• Working knowledge of Python, PySpark or similar scripting/data processing language.
• Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data from multiple source systems.
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work with stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate data needs into technical implementation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data models and structured datasets to support reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate into data solutions.
• Organise and manage data across layers from raw to cleansed, business-ready datasets.
• Ensure data quality via validation, lineage tracking, documentation and monitoring.
• Monitor pipeline performance, investigate failures, and document remediation actions.
• Support cloud-based data solutions while ensuring security, governance and ICT compliance.
• Contribute to enterprise data capability-building and reusable data assets for AI use cases.
