Job summary

GovTech in Singapore is seeking a Software Engineer for the Data Programme to build data services and assets supporting policy and operations across the Singapore government.

You will develop unified data platform infrastructure, APIs, microservices, and data quality systems, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to implement engineering best practices and secure deployments on cloud and on-premise environments.

Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving and methodical troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with DevOps automation, containerization, and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Airflow, and Artifactory or Nexus Sonatype.
• Proficiency in cloud deployment and management on AWS or GCP.
• Scripting and programming skills in Python, Bash, JavaScript, Scala, Rust, or Go.
• Understanding of distributed systems, virtualization, networking, and streaming message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Flink, Hadoop, and distributed file systems.
• Knowledge of patch maintenance, regression testing, and security incident response.
• Familiarity with government IT infrastructure, networking, and on-premise deployments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain unified data platform infrastructure and reusable components.
• Build APIs, microservices, and user interfaces for data discovery and access.
• Create systems for data quality monitoring, lineage tracking, and compliance reporting.
• Design system architectures and manage deployments to cloud and on-premise environments.
• Prototype new technology solutions and mentor other engineers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define product requirements and establish engineering best practices.
