Job summary

Ambition Group Singapore Pte. Ltd. is seeking a data engineer/BI specialist to partner with business units, collect data requirements, and translate them into technical specifications for the data platform team.

You will design transformation logic, build data models in Redshift/S3, and develop interactive dashboards in Tableau or similar BI tools. The role emphasizes data quality, governance, and self-service analytics for end users.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a data engineering, business intelligence, or data analyst role.
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and modelling.
• Hands-on experience with Tableau or equivalent BI tools (Power BI, Quick Sight) for dashboard development.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms (AWS preferred - Amazon Redshift, S3, AWS Glue).
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Experience in data modelling for analytics (star schema, dimensional modelling).

Responsibilities

• Partner with business units to understand data and reporting needs.
• Facilitate requirements workshops and interviews to document data requirements, KPIs, and reporting use cases.
• Translate business requirements into data specifications for the data engineering team.
• Act as liaison between business stakeholders and the data platform team.
• Design and develop data transformation logic to prepare curated datasets for reporting and analytics.
• Build and maintain data models in Amazon Redshift or the Data Lake zone.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness for reporting datasets.
• Apply data quality checks and validation rules to support trustworthy insights.
• Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports in Tableau.
• Create near-real-time dashboards, ad-hoc analysis views, and scheduled reports.
• Ensure dashboards are intuitive for non-technical end users.
• Iterate dashboard designs based on user feedback and evolving needs.
• Document data definitions and dashboard logic in the AWS Glue Data Catalogue.
• Maintain documentation of data sources, transformation logic, and report specifications.
• Support self-service analytics by enabling data discovery.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with business units across the organization to understand their data and reporting needs
• Facilitate requirements workshops and interviews to document data requirements, KPIs, and reporting use cases
• Translate business requirements into clear data specifications for the data engineering team
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical data platform team

Data Transformation & Modelling

• Design and develop data transformation logic to prepare curated datasets for reporting and analytics consumption
• Build and maintain data models in Amazon Redshift or the curated/consumption zone of the Data Lake
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness for all reporting datasets
• Apply data quality checks and validation rules to support trustworthy business insights

Dashboard & Visualisation Development

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau (connected via Amazon Redshift or S3)
• Create near-real-time operational dashboards, ad-hoc analysis views, and scheduled reports tailored to business unit needs
• Ensure dashboards are intuitive and accessible for non-technical end users
• Iterate on dashboard designs based on user feedback and evolving business requirements

Data Catalogue & Documentation

• Document data definitions, business glossary terms, and dashboard logic in the AWS Glue Data Catalogue
• Maintain clear documentation of data sources, transformation logic, and report specifications
• Support self-service analytics by enabling business users to discover and access data independently

Requirements

Essential

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a data engineering, business intelligence, or data analyst role
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and modelling
• Hands-on experience with Tableau or equivalent BI tools (Power BI, Quick Sight) for dashboard development
• Experience working with cloud data platforms (AWS preferred - Amazon Redshift, S3, AWS Glue)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
• Experience in data modelling for analytics (star schema, dimensional modelling)

Preferred

• Familiarity with Python for data transformation and automation
• Experience with AWS Glue Data Catalogue or similar metadata management toolsExposure to Salesforce or other SaaS data sources
• Prior experience working in a government, or public sector environment
• Understanding of data governance and data quality principles
