Job description

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Windows Servers on Azure/AWS, including virtual machines and instances.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Design and implement scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data marts.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across all database systems.
• Create and maintain documentation for database structures, processes, and standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, supporting application developers and incident response.
• Optimise database performance through indexing, query tuning, and schema design.
• Implement automation for data workflows and integrate with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Design and maintain data warehouses and efficient data models.
• Deploy and manage data solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Implement and maintain security measures, including access controls and encryption.
• Collaborate with vendors, analysts, and business teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Conduct business needs analysis, risk assessment, and propose solutions with timelines and budgets.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, functional specifications, and user manuals.
• Manage project execution, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
• Lead user acceptance testing, training, and system support for critical issues.
• Drive continuous improvements and manage change requests effectively.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a SQL Server Data Engineer or Administrator.
• Microsoft SQL Server Certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: SQL Server DBA or Azure Database Administrator Associate).
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery technologies.
• Expertise in database design, data modelling, and SQL programming.
• Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimisation, and index strategies.
• Familiarity with MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., T-SQL, PowerShell) for maintenance and automation.
