You will design, optimize, and scale critical power infrastructure to ensure system reliability, sustainability, and efficiency for high-density AI and cloud compute workloads, driving cost-effective and timely delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design system topology and detailed schematics from utility grid connection to rack-level power to support reliable operations
- Develop power solutions that meet demand and ensure continuous operation of various cooling technologies
- Plan capacity using power smoothing technologies to manage dynamic AI workload power demands
- Right-size and select electrical equipment to meet peak demand while ensuring modularity and scalability
- Configure and sequence operations to optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)
- Conduct Single Point of Failure (SPoF) analyses, Arc Flash, and load flow studies using ETAP and SKM software
- Standardize build-to-suit design templates to reduce design cycle times and meet cost targets
- Future-proof electrical designs to accommodate evolving workload demands
- Manage concurrent and fast-track projects, applying innovative design solutions and collaborating with internal and external partners to achieve desired outcomes
- Travel as required to support project needs
Required competencies and certifications
- Proven design experience across regional metro areas
- Electrical Professional Engineer with practicing certificate
- Minimum 15 years of Data Centre Detail Design experience, including over 5 years in principal engineer or MEP manager roles
- Expertise in electrical studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, Neher McGrath, load calculation, lightning protection, earthing, electrical system protection, and power monitoring systems
- Familiarity with IEC standards: IEC 62305, IEC 60076, IEC 60909, IEC 61482, IEC 62040, IEC 62271, ISO 8528
- Practical experience in Low Voltage and Medium Voltage electrical distribution
- Experience in hyperscale data centers exceeding 50MW per building and 100MW per campus
- Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, and CYME electrical study software
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and drafting
