The Data Center Deployment & Service Delivery Lead is a senior onsite leadership role responsible for end-to-end execution of data centre installation, network infrastructure, fibre deployment, equipment decommissioning and associated engineering activities. The role combines hands-on delivery oversight with team management, quality assurance, client engagement and operational governance.
The role is accountable for coordinating multiple shifts and workstreams, maintaining clear visibility of progress, resolving delivery risks and ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with approved technical standards, procedures and client expectations. The primary focus is deployment execution and service delivery rather than facilities management.
Own the safe and successful delivery of onsite deployment activities from planning and mobilisation through execution, validation, handover and closure. Lead rack-and-stack, hardware installation, structured cabling, network connectivity, fibre infrastructure, equipment removal and site restoration activities. Translate programme plans and technical requirements into clear shift plans, daily priorities, resource assignments and measurable deliverables. Coordinate multiple teams, shifts and suppliers while managing dependencies, access constraints, materials, tooling and readiness requirements. Monitor delivery against scope, schedule and quality targets, taking corrective action where performance or outcomes are at risk. Maintain accurate status reporting, progress dashboards, completion records and evidence for client and programme governance.
Provide day-to-day leadership for engineers, technicians, team leads and partner resources working in a 24/7 or extended-hours operational environment. Allocate work according to capability, certification, site access and operational priority, ensuring appropriate supervision and coverage. Run shift briefings, handovers and progress reviews to maintain continuity, ownership and clear escalation paths. Coach team members on delivery standards, safe working practices, documentation quality and client-facing conduct. Identify capacity, capability and training gaps and work with programme leadership to improve readiness and scalability.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with approved statements of work, designs, implementation plans, standard operating procedures and method-of-procedure documentation.
Act as the primary onsite delivery contact for the client, programme management, design teams, operations teams and external suppliers. Provide clear, concise and evidence-based updates on progress, risks, dependencies, quality and recovery actions. Lead or contribute to daily reviews, governance calls, operational meetings and escalation discussions. Manage expectations professionally, protect agreed scope and ensure changes are assessed, authorised and communicated before execution. Build trusted working relationships while maintaining accountability for delivery commitments and service standards.
Identify and manage delivery risks, blockers and dependencies, escalating promptly with clear impact and recommended actions.
Maintain control of assets, consumables, waste handling and secure equipment movements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Develop, maintain and improve operating procedures, implementation methods, checklists, handover templates and reporting routines. Use delivery data and team feedback to remove waste, improve throughput and reduce repeat defects or avoidable rework. Support the introduction of improved tools, automation and standardised delivery practices across sites and services. Contribute practical insight to programme planning, estimation, mobilisation and future service design.
