We are assisting a leading national airline in their search for a Vice President, Artificial Intelligence & Data to lead and scale the organization’s AI, data science, and data engineering capabilities.
This strategic role will be instrumental in driving the airline’s digital transformation — accelerating innovation across commercial, operational, and customer experience functions through advanced AI and data-driven solutions.
The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a strong background in data infrastructure, enterprise AI systems, and a proven record of managing senior managers and technical experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Technical Leadership: Define and execute the enterprise AI and Data strategy aligned with business objectives. Lead and mentor senior managers and technical teams, fostering a high-performance, innovative, and collaborative culture.
- AI & Data Innovation: Oversee the design and deployment of enterprise-scale AI systems, including large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and AI agent frameworks. Drive data-driven initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement.
- Data Infrastructure & Governance: Lead the architecture of secure, cloud-native, and distributed data platforms. Ensure strong governance, lineage, and compliance while promoting MLOps, LLMOps, and DataOps best practices for scalable, resilient solutions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with business and technology leaders to integrate AI and data insights into core business strategies. Build strategic relationships with hyperscalers, research institutions, and technology vendors to extend capabilities.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the enterprise thought leader for AI and data. Communicate complex strategies clearly to executive stakeholders, driving alignment and delivering measurable business outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise AI/data leadership, with at least 5 years managing senior managers or technical leads.
- Proven track record in building and scaling AI systems, data platforms, and advanced analytics capabilities.
- Deep expertise in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), distributed systems, and data governance frameworks.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in the aviation, transportation, or travel technology sectors is added advantage.
- Contributions to open-source AI/data communities or industry standards is preferred.
- Recognized thought leadership through publications or speaking engagements in AI/ML or data engineering is added advantage.
