Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Proactively greet, assist, and engage aquarium guests in a professional and welcoming manner.

  • Enhance the guest experience by providing detailed and accurate information about Singapore Oceanarium (SGO), including events and activities happening in the aquarium.

  • Facilitate a variety of programs and educational activities/presentations in and around the aquarium.

  • Host programmes, small-scale events and conduct public tours.

  • Assist with special events operations such as seminars, weddings, and corporate dinners.

  • Manage activities at various workstations or themed events to ensure smooth operations in SGO.

  • Perform and/or escort animated characters at SGO and participate in photo opportunities as per operating procedures.

  • Lift and move crowd control equipment before, during and after the special events, as required.

  • Manage guest traffic, including walk-in guests, group and school tours, events, and meeting attendees etc.

  • Assist in ensuring SGO is a safe, clean, and welcoming environment, including properly securing the attractions during closing time, reporting all safety issues to the appropriate personnel, and participating in regular light cleaning.

  • Handle ticket sales using a Point-of-Sale System, including maintaining inventory, conducting monetary and credit card transactions, if required.

  • Participate in on-going professional development opportunities and training.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma, preferably in Hospitality & Tourism, or related field.

  • Candidates with GCE ‘O’ levels or above with strong presentation skills will also be considered.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Comfort with delivering presentations and public talks.

  • Ability to safely handle marine animals at touch pools in accordance with proper protocols.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner with guests and team members.

  • Ability to withstand extended periods of walking and standing.

  • Flexibility to perform shift work, including evenings, weekends, public holidays, and late nights, and to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
