Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Vice President (AVP) to join their Risk Management team, specializing in Retail Credit Model Validation.
Responsibilities
In this role, the AVP will be responsible for independently validating retail credit risk models used across various portfolios, including origination, scoring, provisioning, and stress testing models. The successful candidate will thoroughly review and assess model methodologies, assumptions, data quality, and performance metrics to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal risk policies. They will identify potential weaknesses or limitations within the models and provide clear, actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening model robustness and predictive accuracy. The AVP will be tasked with documenting validation findings, preparing comprehensive reports, and presenting insights to senior management and regulatory bodies. Collaboration with model development and data teams will be essential to understand the design and purpose of each model, as well as to facilitate ongoing monitoring through periodic reviews. The role also involves staying current with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices in credit risk modeling, supporting audit and regulatory examinations related to validation activities.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field, along with at least 3 to 7 years of experience in credit risk or model validation within financial institutions or consulting firms. Strong expertise in retail credit products, risk modeling frameworks such as Basel and IFRS 9, and proficiency in statistical tools like SAS, R, or Python are required.
