As a Trade Analyst, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Market Research: Analyze global cotton markets, including production, consumption, inventory levels, and price trends. Consider weather conditions, agricultural practices, and potential yield fluctuations. Evaluate stock levels and stock consumption norms from previous periods. This involves gathering and interpreting data from various sources such as government reports, industry publications, and market intelligence platforms.
- Macro Analysis: Assess macroeconomic factors such as GDP growth, inflation, interest rates, currencies, and geopolitical events impacting global trade and market prices.
- Industry Analysis: Stay updated on industry developments, including changes in farming practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes. Analyze how these factors could impact cotton supply and demand.
- Forecasting: Develop short-term and long-term forecasts for cotton supply, demand, and prices using statistical and econometric models. This requires a strong understanding of market dynamics and factors influencing the cotton industry and other agricultural commodities.
- Industry Engagement: Engage with industry experts, agronomists, and trade associations for additional perspectives. Attend conferences and forums to stay updated on the latest developments.
- Data Management: Manage databases of market data and ensure the accuracy and reliability of data sources.
- Trading Team Engagement: Actively participate in trading calls and discussions, providing data and analysis for trading strategies and decision-making.
