Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cost Estimator with a strong background in shipyard operations to support our project and commercial teams. The ideal candidate will have prior hands-on experience in a shipyard environment and a deep understanding of cost structures, variation orders, and contract scopes related to marine and offshore construction projects.

Key Responsibilties

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for shipbuilding, conversion, and offshore projects.
  • Review and interpret contract documents to ensure alignment with the scope of work.
  • Liaise with technical teams to validate specifications and project requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing and variation orders directly with shipyards.
  • Provide pricing insights based on market knowledge and past experience.
  • Identify and address cost risks and opportunities during project planning and execution.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, procurement, and engineering teams.
  • Ensure all cost estimates are accurate, competitive, and within contractual terms.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification: Diploma in Engineering, Maritime Studies, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, commercial, or project control roles within the shipbuilding or offshore construction industry.
  • Prior experience working in a shipyard is essential.
  • Proven experience as a Cost Estimator or in a commercial/project control role within shipbuilding or offshore industries.
  • Strong knowledge of shipyard processes, cost drivers, and pricing mechanisms.
  • Experience negotiating with shipyards and managing variation orders.
  • Ability to interpret and work with contracts, scopes of work, and technical specifications.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Self-driven with strong analytical and negotiation capabilities.
