Job description

The cost controller is responsible for monitoring, controlling and analyzing operational and project costs to ensure budgets are adhered to and financial objectives are met. The incumbent will ensure financial systems and procedures are followed, ultimately helping the company maintain financial stability and profitability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Controlling the working capital and cash-flow management including reporting for board and executives.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts in collaboration with managing director and vertical heads.
  • Monitor actual costs vs. budget and analyze variances.
  • Ensure timely preparation and consolidation of financial statements, financial reports, special analysis and management reports to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide strategic recommendations regarding automation, accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting, planning, financial stability, liquidity and cashflow.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of financial activities and ensure strong corporate financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, analysis and statutory reporting.
  • Good understanding of operating and capital expenditure, revenue, internal controls and budgets.
  • Work closely with teammates to promote a culture of innovation within the team to drive greater efficiency whilst increasing and driving staff motivation.
  • Responsible for all core financial affairs and ensuring that the team are developed to take on leading roles.
  • Responsible for the accurate production of monthly P&L, Balance Sheet including liaising with project managers for WIP management and reporting.
  • Participate in enhancing processes and setting the overall control framework for the company.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or Finance
  • At least 5 years of related experience in financial control/management
  • Familiarity with engineering industry would be an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and other financial regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Leadership abilities to manage and motivate a team
