Job Summary:

As a Cook in our large-scale catering company, you will be part of a dynamic kitchen team dedicated to providing high-quality culinary experiences for a wide range of events. You will work under the supervision of the Head Chef and collaborate closely with other culinary staff to prepare meals that meet our clients' expectations for taste, quality, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals in accordance with the menu specifications and health and safety standards.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of menus for various events, adjusting for specific client requests, dietary needs, and serving sizes.
  • Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment efficiently.
  • Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients and products.
  • Stock and manage assigned stations, ensuring that all supplies are readily available and fresh.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food.
  • Uphold sanitation standards, including proper handling and storage of food products to prevent contamination.
  • Participate in routine kitchen cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with the training of new kitchen personnel.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and catered events.
  • Provide feedback to the head chef regarding kitchen operations, menu adjustments, and supply needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting.
  • Formal culinary training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with industry’s best practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift at least 20kg.
  • Must be able to work in a hot, humid environment.
  • Must be able to work shift and weekends

Certifications:

  • Food Handler's Certificate or equivalent is required.
