Responsibilities
  • Assist department head to control and monitor departmental costs on an ongoing basis to ensure performance against budget
People
  • Provide support on daily operations and mis-en place
  • Communicates to his/her supervisor on difficulties, guest or internal customer comment and other relevant information
  • Establish and maintain effective employee working relationships
  • Attends and participates in daily briefings and other meetings as per scheduled
  • Attends and participates in training schedules as per scheduled
Guest Experience
  • Ensure that all relevant buffet / display set-ups are prepared ahead of guest’s arrival and in adherence with hotel standards
  • Communicates politely and display courtesy to guests and internal customers
  • Assist with preparation, presentation, decoration and storage of dishes
Responsible Business
  • Prepares in advance food, beverage, materials and equipment needed for the service
  • Cleans and re-sets his / her working area
  • Ensures that uniforms are always clean and tidy
  • Performs related duties and special projects as per assigned
  • Demonstrate and conduct safely Awareness of OH&S policies and procedures
  • Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislations
  • Operate equipment safely and sensibly
  • Initiate actions to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers
  • Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements
What we need from you

Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of experience in the culinary department, or equivalent combination of education and culinary/kitchen operations experience. Certificate in culinary arts preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Moving about the kitchen
  • Handling food, objects, products and utensils
