Overview
The Convenience Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a convenience store ("Mama Shop"), ensuring excellent customer service, efficient operations, and a safe and welcoming environment. The role involves managing inventory, finances, and store performance while maintaining compliance with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Store Operations: Oversee daily store activities, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring the store is clean, organised, and well-stocked.
- Customer Service: Ensure high-quality customer service by addressing customer inquiries, resolving complaints, and fostering a friendly shopping experience.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place orders with suppliers, manage inventory to minimise waste, and conduct regular stock audits.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, track sales, handle cash and transactions, and prepare financial reports to ensure profitability.
- Marketing and Promotions: Implement promotional campaigns, manage in-store displays, and engage with the local community to drive sales.
- Vendor Relations: Maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
- Problem Solving: Address operational challenges, such as on the store malfunctions or issues, promptly and effectively.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in retail or hospitality management, preferably in a convenience store or similar environment.
- Education: Secondary school, diploma or equivalent preferred; a diploma or degree in business, retail management, hospitality managemement or a related field is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of budgeting, sales tracking, and financial reporting.
- Customer Focus: Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and resolving issues professionally.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights (up to 20 kg), and perform tasks such as stocking shelves.
