Job summary

ASM FRONT-END MANUFACTURING SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is seeking a Controller I, Business Control Sourcing to partner with Global Sourcing and provide end-to-end financial support for material cost management and PPV analysis.

You will own reference tools governance, track savings, and ensure data integrity across sourcing actions, with collaboration across Global Procurement, Supply Chain Operations, Engineering and Finance to protect gross margin.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • 8–10 years of finance experience in procurement or operations finance.
  • Experience supporting a large-scale procurement or supply chain organization in manufacturing.
  • Experience with cost savings programs, reference pricing, or procurement finance is desirable.

  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to support sourcing negotiations and management reviews.

Job's mission

The Controller I, Business Control Sourcing is responsible for end‑to‑end finance business partnering to Global Sourcing, with a primary focus on material cost management, Purchase Price Variance (PPV) analysis, and reference tools governance.

The role serves as the single point of accountability (PIC) for reference tools & cost savings tracking, ensuring data integrity, consistency of methodologies, and strong linkage between sourcing actions, cost savings initiatives, and P&L impact.

The role plays a pivotal role in enabling competitive product economics and protecting gross margin across a complex, multi-tier supply base.

This role partners closely with Global Procurement, Supply Chain Operations, Engineering, and Business Unit Finance to ensure that sourcing decisions are grounded in sound financial analysis and aligned with company-wide profitability objectives.

What you will be working on

Procurement Finance Strategy & Business Partnering

  • Act as the finance business partner to Global Sourcing team, providing financial guidance and insights to support sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Support financial evaluation of strategic sourcing initiatives, including multi-year supply agreements, sole-source vs. multi-source decisions.
  • Partner with sourcing, Global Operations and business unit teams to establish target costs for products and components, tracking actual vs. target cost on a periodic basis and ensuring sourcing decisions are reflected accurately in forecasts and financial reporting.

Savings Tracking & Procurement Value Measurement

  • Own the design, governance, and reporting of the global procurement savings program, ensuring consistent methodology across all the spend categories or product categories.
  • Serve as person‑in‑Charge (PIC) for reference tools cost tracking, including ownership of structure, data accuracy, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Report procurement financial performance to Global Operations and company leadership, including savings pipeline, year-to-date actuals, and forecast to plan.
  • Enforce savings validation standards in collaboration with Sourcing and finance to ensure savings flow-through to P&L
  • Monitor and analyze key commodity market trends in partnership with the commodity managers and model impact on cost savings forecast
  • Own PPV analysis and forecasting, including development of forward‑looking PPV outlooks based on purchase commitments and pricing agreements.
  • Track, analyze, and explain material cost movements, headwinds, tailwinds, and savings realization versus targets.
  • Support development of cost savings pipelines, bridging sourcing initiatives to financial outcomes.
  • Provide ad‑hoc analysis to support sourcing negotiations, pricing discussions, and management reviews.

Financial Planning, Reporting & Controls

  • Drive the annual budget and monthly forecasting process for cost savings, purchase price variances (PPV), and sourcing team’s budget.
  • Prepare monthly management reporting on procurement financial performance, including variance analysis and commentary for senior leadership
  • Partner with sourcing and operations finance to prepare make‑vs‑buy analysis.
  • Support improvements in open PO exposure and material liability assessments, working closely with Supply Chain and Procurement.
  • Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, systems (SAP, other systems), process simplification and automation opportunities within sourcing finance, including reporting and tracking workflows.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; professional qualification (ACCA / CPA / CMA) preferred.
  • 8–10 years of, progressive finance experience, including relevant experience in a supply chain, procurement, or operations finance role
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a large-scale procurement or supply chain organization in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the semiconductor, semiconductor equipment, advanced manufacturing, or high-tech hardware industry
  • Experience supporting cost savings programs, reference pricing, or procurement finance is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience handling large datasets, PPV analysis, and cost tracking tools.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced financial modeling skills; experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) and large dataset analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional teams in fast-moving, technology-driven organizations.
  • Strategic mindset with proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive cost/ productivity improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
