Job summary

Cana Consulting, partnering with an energy organisation, is hiring a Contract Advisor to join the Singapore team. You will draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements, and provide practical contractual guidance to internal stakeholders.

You will work closely with commercial, trading and other internal teams, manage multiple negotiations, identify contractual risks and help implement templates and contracting practices to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in commercial contracts, contract management or contract advisory.
• Experience within energy, commodities, trading, shipping, infrastructure or other complex commercial environments would be advantageous.
• Legal qualifications would be advantageous but are not necessarily required.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Provide practical contractual advice to commercial and business stakeholders throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Support negotiations with customers, suppliers, counterparties and other external stakeholders.
• Identify contractual risks and work with relevant stakeholders to develop commercially appropriate solutions.
• Advise on contractual rights, obligations, liabilities and risk allocation.
• Support contract amendments, renewals, variations and related documentation.
• Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Commercial, Finance and other internal functions on contractual matters.
• Assist with contractual issues and potential disputes arising during the performance of agreements.
• Support the development and improvement of contract templates, processes and contracting practices.

This is a commercial contracts-focused position supporting the organisation's regional business activities. The successful candidate will work closely with commercial, trading and other internal stakeholders on the negotiation, review and management of a broad range of contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Provide practical contractual advice to commercial and business stakeholders throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Support negotiations with customers, suppliers, counterparties and other external stakeholders.
• Identify contractual risks and work with relevant stakeholders to develop commercially appropriate solutions.
• Advise on contractual rights, obligations, liabilities and risk allocation.
• Support contract amendments, renewals, variations and related documentation.
• Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Commercial, Finance and other internal functions on contractual matters.
• Assist with contractual issues and potential disputes arising during the performance of agreements.

• Undertake other contract-related projects as required by the business.

Requirements

• Strong drafting, review and negotiation skills.
• Experience within energy, commodities, trading, shipping, infrastructure or other complex commercial environments would be advantageous.
• Comfortable engaging directly with commercial stakeholders and counterparties.
• Strong understanding of contractual risk and ability to balance legal/contractual considerations with commercial objectives.
• Able to independently manage multiple contracts and negotiations.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and analytical skills.
• Legal qualifications would be advantageous but are not necessarily required.
