Job summary

Energy Market Authority (EMA) seeks a data analytics professional to advance its capabilities in statistics, data science and modelling to support Singapore's evolving energy landscape. The role is housed in the Data & AI Department (DAD) and focuses on data-driven policy and regulatory decision-making.

You will develop and apply advanced analytics, forecasting and ML models, and contribute to high-frequency energy statistics, public information needs, and international reporting obligations,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 to 8 years of working experience in data analytics, forecasting or AI/ML projects.
• Education in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related disciplines with substantial quantitative content should apply.
• Knowledge in energy sector would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytics, statistical techniques and data science methods to high-frequency, locational and system datasets to support policy formulation and regulatory reviews.
• Conduct exploratory, diagnostic and predictive analyses to identify trends and generate actionable insights on energy demand, supply and markets.
• Develop and enhance statistical, econometric, ML and forecasting models to analyse drivers and outcomes under different scenarios.
• Strengthen EMA's analytics capabilities through visualisation tools and the production of high-frequency energy statistics.

As part of EMA's strategic shift toward deeper policy–tech integration and more responsive, data‑driven decision making, the Data & AI Department (DAD) is expanding its capabilities to meet growing analytical and modelling needs.

As part of EMA's strategic shift toward deeper policy–tech integration and more responsive, data‑driven decision making, the Data & AI Department (DAD) is expanding its capabilities to meet growing analytical and modelling needs.

[What you will be working on]

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in statistics and data science to generate insights from complex datasets, support evidence-based policy and regulatory decision-making, and enhance EMA's analytical and modelling capabilities across the energy sector. The key responsibilities of the officer include:

• Apply advanced analytics, statistical techniques and data science methods to uncover insights from high-frequency, locational, sectoral and system datasets, supporting policy formulation, regulatory reviews, operational planning and strategic decision-making.
• Conduct exploratory, diagnostic and predictive analyses to identify trends, evaluate policy and market interventions, assess emerging issues, and generate actionable insights on energy demand, supply, markets, consumer behaviour and the energy transition.
• Develop and enhance statistical, econometric, machine learning and forecasting models to analyse key drivers and project demand, supply, costs, emissions and other energy-related outcomes under different scenarios to support planning and decision-making.
• Strengthen EMA's statistical and reporting capabilities through the development of visualisation and analytical tools, and enhance the production, publication and sharing of high-frequency and granular energy statistics to support public information needs, Whole-of-Government decision-making, and international reporting obligations.

[What we are looking for]

• Minimum 5 to 8 years of working experience in handling data analytics, forecasting or AI/ML projects. Education in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or other related disciplines with substantial quantitative content should apply.
• Knowledge in energy sector would be an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, coordination and communication (written and verbal) skills are critical for this position.
• Applicants must possess an independent problem-solving mindset with a strong desire to find innovative and 'out of the box' solutions to problems.
• Applicants must have experience with using SAS, SQL, Python, R and/or any other major programming language for data science and applications.
• Applicant must be a committed team player, with a strong interest to shape Singapore's energy landscape.
