Primary Function:

  • The Contract Manufacturing Manager is the key point of contact between Abbott and the Third-Party Manufacturer (TPM) Primary focus of this role is to manage the strategic relationship with the TPM while also supporting and resolving day to day issues.
  • The Contract Manufacturing Manger will seek to drive continuous improvement and drive more efficient ways of conducting business, while ensuring the TPM delivers its volume commitments on time and in full.
  • The role will require the incumbent to have an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing and packing of nutritional powder products, supply chain management experience, and a demonstrated ability to manage and build strategic relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing a key Third Party Manufacturer in PA region
  • Act as the primary liaison between the TPM and Abbott Nutrition and is responsible for managing and developing the strategic relationship between the two parties.
  • Negotiation and maintenance of contracts.
  • Responsible for the successful resolution of all business and supply chain issues including materials management with TPM that affect product quality or product availability, including ensuring TPM meets its orders on time in full.
  • Ensure that capacity, capabilities, and systems are in place to execute reliable and cost-effective supply of goods from TPM.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Quality Assurance, Engineering, R&D, Purchasing, Commercial, Regulatory, Legal, Production Planning, and Logistics.
  • Monitor and track key performance metrics. Develop strategies to improve performance.
  • Conduct regular Business Reviews to review performance and improvement plans.
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations with the TPMs for any production or supply issues and assess effectiveness of RCAs with relevant SME’s to avoid recurrence.
  • Manage all New Product Introduction activities at the TPM, including supporting R&D trials, First Lot to Stock production, and supply chain activities related to commercialization of new products
  • Evaluate cost / benefit of various financial scenarios and makes recommendations to senior management.
  • Leads continuous improvement, cost and process improvement projects. Identify, share, and replicate best practices across the internal and external supply chain network.
  • Liaise with procurement functions to understand pricing structure for key ingredients and commodities and engage with the TPM's to drive transparency in the overall pricing structure supporting pricing negotiations as required.
  • Responsible for TPM P&L including standard setting, cost changes and purchase price variance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or similar discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in nutritional manufacturing and packing, in addition experience in some or all or the following disciplines: supply chain, materials management, operational excellence, financial analysis, lean manufacturing, or quality.
  • Proven history of delivering results and very strong work ethic is the key success factor and expectation for this position.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ownership and accountability for the entire supply chain.
  • Must have experience in working with multiple functional areas and possess an understanding of the various operational disciplines (Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Production Planning)
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills along with the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Must possess excellent problem solving and logical thinking skills.
  • Role will be based in Singapore and will require up to 20% travel in region
