Job Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for all aspects of the onsite process and construction of major projects within the Department of Development and Project Management team or as required by the department head. The role will involve early-stage development of the project, with a primary focus on the delivery of the defined works. The successful candidate must have experience in the commercial construction industry, particularly with major fit-out and A & A projects, preferably in a live working environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the onsite team ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and sustainability guidelines stipulated by Marina Bay Sands.
  • Ensure housekeeping and quality benchmarks are met in each work area.
  • Lead the onsite team to ensure project completion within budget and schedule, and in accordance with contract documents.
  • Develop scopes of work for each trade in collaboration with the purchasing department.
  • Develop and input into a logistics plan to facilitate coordinated and efficient work execution under the project manager's guidance.
  • Hold regular meetings with trade contractors to review shop drawings, equipment/material lead times, manpower projections, and quality/performance issues.
  • Schedule factory visits as required.
  • Conduct project/contractor meetings to review progress, costs, schedule updates, and other issues.
  • Benchmark activities with trade contractors to establish quality standards.
  • Assess trade contractor method statements and contract documentation for buildability and provide feedback.
  • Coordinate with the safety manager to develop a site-specific safety plan.
  • Prepare detailed and timely project reports covering schedules, deviations, change orders, and issues.
  • Implement best practices, procedures, and standards in compliance with company laws.
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
  • Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Built Environment, or Construction Management as a minimum.
Experience
  • 15+ years of experience as a Construction Manager managing large-scale commercial projects, including new builds and A & A works.
  • Knowledge of contract scope of work, construction, engineering, procurement, and industry standards.
Other Prerequisites
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting processes.
  • Effective communication across offices.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, supervision, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration abilities.
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude.
