About the Company

Our client is leading Insurtech company.

The role

We are looking for a seasoned compliance leader to join a listed Insurtech company as they expand. The role will be leading the compliance function as the main contact with the MAS, manage the licensing process. This role requires strong knowledge of MAS processes, a track record of excellence in the financial services sector and Chinese language skills at full professional proficiency level.

Summary of the role and key responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison with MAS, ensuring clear and timely communication throughout the process.
  • Lead the application process for the insurance brokerage license with MAS, from preparation to submission.
  • Develop and update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and MAS guidelines (e.g., Insurance Act, Financial Advisers Act).
  • Ensure compliance with AML/CFT regulations, PDPA, and corporate governance codes.
  • Monitor compliance post-licensing to maintain adherence to MAS obligations.
  • Advise senior leadership on regulatory trends and the impact of upcoming MAS changes.
  • Foster a culture of compliance by organizing training and awareness initiatives across the firm.
  • Represent compliance in discussions with the board and executive team regarding risk and regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, legal advisors, and service providers to support compliance initiatives.
  • Assist cross-functional teams during regulatory reviews, audits, and due diligence.

Key skills required

  • Eligible to be a MAS-appointed Responsible Officer (RO) under the FAA and/or Insurance Act.
  • At least 8 years in insurance, financial services, or regulatory compliance with 5+ years in a senior compliance or RO role in Singapore, ideally within a licensed insurance broker or financial advisory firm.
  • Experience in obtaining and maintaining MAS licenses is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of MAS regulatory frameworks and compliance operations in Singapore.
  • Familiarity with risk management, governance structures, and regulatory audits.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in compliance, AML, or risk management (e.g., ICA, CAMS) are advantageous.
