Job description

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Head Fitness Coach to lead and oversee fitness programming tailored specifically for seniors across our Active Ageing Centres (AACs). This role goes beyond personal training—it combines curriculum development, team leadership, health collaboration, and performance management to elevate our exercise programs and improve the well-being of seniors across various age and health profiles.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Program Design & Development

  • Design and develop a structured and comprehensive exercise curriculum suitable for both mass group exercises and small-group sessions in the gym.
  • Ensure the content is evidence-based, well-organised, and tailored according to age, gender, and Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS 1–6).
  • Regularly review and update training materials in line with emerging research and best practices in senior fitness.

2. Staff Training & Development

  • Conduct training workshops and hands-on sessions to equip AAC staff and Fitness Associates with the skills to implement the exercise programs safely and effectively.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to ensure consistency and quality in programme delivery across all centres.

3. Performance & Quality Monitoring

  • Monitor gym usage rates and ensure monthly utilisation reaches at least 75% capacity across all gyms.
  • Develop and implement satisfaction surveys to gather feedback from gym users; aim to maintain at least 85% satisfaction on a rolling basis.
  • Use data insights to refine programmes, improve staff performance, and enhance the overall user experience.

4. Equipment & Infrastructure

  • Evaluate, recommend, and oversee the procurement and deployment of fitness-related equipment suitable for seniors, considering safety, accessibility, and therapeutic value.
  • Work closely with Centre Managers and Facilities teams to ensure proper maintenance and setup.

5. Health Integration & Personalised Care

  • Serve as a key member of the Integrated Health Team, collaborating with medical practitioners, TCM physicians, and dietitians to provide holistic, personalised health advice to seniors.
  • Support cross-disciplinary case discussions and contribute fitness recommendations that complement dietary and medical plans.

6. Leadership & Advocacy

  • Promote a culture of active ageing within the organization and the broader community.
  • Represent the fitness team in stakeholder engagements and community outreach efforts.
  • Inspire innovation by staying updated with global trends and adapting relevant practices for local implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Studies, Physiotherapy, or a related field.
  • Certified Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor (ACE, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in senior fitness, preferably in a leadership or coaching capacity.
  • Strong understanding of exercise prescription for older adults, including those with chronic conditions and physical limitations.
  • Proven ability to train and lead a team; experience with program development preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills.
  • CPR and AED certification required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
