Job description

Overview

You are responsible to manage an intermediate group of commodities, activities included but not limited to sourcing and supplier qualification, drive cost reduction to achieve PPV targets, negotiate favourable terms and conditions so as to achieve lowest total cost of ownership, carry out periodic business reviews and supplier audits and help develop commodity strategies and supplier relationship. In addition, this incumbent needs to support new product introduction and product transfer activities.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Manage a commodity group specific to a manufacturing plant or region. Initiate and follow through cost reduction programs including total cost bench-marking, identify opportunities and execution.
  • Carry out periodic price and contract review / negotiations with suppliers. Actively manage work flow in SAP and ensure that all price agreements are appropriately loaded.
  • Supplier Management activities which include New Supplier On-boarding, Supplier Agreement or T&C Checklist, Supplier Periodic Business Reviews, Scorecards and Audits.
  • Support and interface directly with management, manufacturing engineering, R&D, product marketing, and project management teams for new products, transfer products and sustaining product improvement programs.
  • Develop and manage sourcing strategies enabling Low Cost Sourcing and off-shore sourcing to create supply base with ability to support the manufacturing strategy as well as customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures services are delivered on time and meet quality standards. Identifies and resolves potential supplier problems.

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ other related Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in strategic procurement or purchasing in a manufacturing environment
  • Good working knowledge of casting, sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding and precision machining manufacturing processes
  • Ability to reach a solution with limited direction
  • Supplier management and negotiation skill and experience
  • Good communication, analytical skills and pro-activeness
  • Familiarity with commercial terms and conditions
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma
  • Collaboration and teamwork
