Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and finalize commissioning procedures, plans, and schedules for all hull-related systems.
- Prepare the necessary systems and subsystems lists and boundary drawings.
- Review engineering, construction, and contractual documents to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct and oversee the execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities at both onshore shipyards and offshore sites.
- Perform functional tests and verify the proper installation of marine systems, such as ballast, bilge, inert gas, and cargo systems.
- Ensure that all testing and commissioning activities are carried out safely and in accordance with project and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems that arise during the commissioning phase.
- Liaise with vendors, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth integration of all hull systems.
- Prepare and manage commissioning documentation, including reports, test records, and handover dossiers.
- Assist in the compilation of final technical documentation, such as "as-built" drawings.
- Complete punch lists, which are a record of incomplete or defective items, and ensure all items are closed out.
- Ensure a smooth handover of the commissioned systems to the operations team.
Job Requirements
- A bachelor\u2019s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive work experience (often 5+ years) in the offshore oil and gas industry, specifically on FPSO, FSO, or shipyard projects.
- Prior experience in a commissioning role, with a strong preference for candidates with experience on FPSO hull systems.
- Proficiency with system completion software and project management tools.
- Expertise in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including P&IDs.
- A solid understanding of hull-related systems, such as piping, electrical, and control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing faults and identifying improvements.
- High safety awareness and a mandatory commitment to safety policies.
- Knowledge of offshore safety protocols and managing simultaneous operations.
- Relevant safety certifications, such as BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training), may be required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle complex work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, sometimes in remote or challenging offshore environments.
