Commis Cook

Job Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation & Cooking

• Assist in food preparation (e.g., chopping, marinating, portioning ingredients).
• Cook dishes according to recipes and café standards.
• Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
• Follow proper mise en place procedures before service.

2. Kitchen Operations Support

• Work under the guidance of the Chef de Partie and Head Chef.
• Assist in different kitchen stations as required (hot, cold, pastry, etc.).
• Ensure food is prepared and served on time, especially during peak hours.

3. Food Safety & Hygiene

• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations (SFA guidelines).
• Keep kitchen workstations clean and organized.
• Properly store ingredients and check for freshness.

4. Inventory & Stock Management

• Assist in receiving, checking, and storing food supplies.
• Report low stock levels or damaged ingredients to supervisors.
• Minimize food waste through proper handling and portioning.

5. Teamwork & Learning

• Work closely with the kitchen team to maintain efficiency.
• Learn and improve cooking techniques under the guidance of senior chefs.
• Take feedback and continuously improve cooking skills.

Job Requirements:

• No prior experience required; training will be provided.
• Passion for cooking and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Physically fit (standing for long hours, handling kitchen tasks).
• Positive attitude and team player mindset.

• Operational days - Tuesdays to Sundays
• Operational hours - 0800-1230
• Flexible schedule to be arranged with your Manager
