Job description

We are seeking an ambitious and talented Commis Chef to join our team at Zén in Singapore. As the sister restaurant to the 3-Michelin star Frantzén in Stockholm, Zén offers a meticulously curated tasting menu that blends both local and world-class delicacies. Guests can expect the finest ingredients sourced around the world, set across three floors of a classic shophouse in the heart of the city.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Has a strong background in kitchen operations and staff management with excellent communication skills.
  • Will be responsible for managing and training kitchen staff, ensuring efficient teamwork.
  • Will help maintain the timely operation of the kitchen, meeting our high-quality standards.
  • Is highly proficient in both spoken and written English.
  • Michelin star experience is preferred, though not essential.
  • Can work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the production, preparation, and presentation of food consistently meets the highest quality standards.
  • Contribute to guest satisfaction while managing quality, operating, and food costs effectively.
  • Be well-versed in all standard procedures and policies related to food preparation, receiving, storage, and sanitation.
  • Follow proper food preservation standards to ensure products are stored and handled at the correct temperatures.
  • Foster a secure and friendly working environment by ensuring effective communication within the kitchen team.
  • Establish and maintain strong inter-departmental working relationships.
  • Take personal responsibility for hygiene, safety, and the correct use of equipment and utensils.
  • Provide daily feedback, report issues as they arise, and ensure quality control aligns with service standards.
