The Opportunity:
We are looking for a driven and experienced Commercial Manager to lead and grow metal trading business (Tin, Nickel, Zinc, Lead, Copper Aluminium etc.) across the APAC and global markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing physical tin trading activities, developing strategic supplier and customer relationships, and driving commercial strategies to maximize profitability.
The Job:
- Manage physical trading activities, including purchase, sales, and contract negotiations with global suppliers and end-users.
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to grow market share, optimize trading margins, and manage price/market risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with miners, smelters, refiners, manufacturers, and consumers in the supply chain.
- Monitor global metal market trends, supply-demand dynamics, tariffs, and regulatory changes to identify trading opportunities.
- Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of trades, including shipping, warehousing, and documentation.
- Manage and negotiate long-term offtake agreements, spot deals, and term contracts.
- Conduct market intelligence research and share regular reports with management on pricing, competitor activities, and strategic market insights.
- Engage in hedging strategies using financial instruments (if applicable) to manage price risks.
- Coordinate with finance and risk management teams on credit assessments and trade financing.
- Represent the company in industry events, conferences, and client meetings to enhance brand visibility and business development.
The Talent:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, International Trade, or related fields.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in base metals trading
- Solid understanding of the physical metals trading lifecycle, including contract management, logistics, and trade finance.
- Proven track record in commercial negotiations and deal closing
- Excellent analytical skills and market sense to identify trading opportunities.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple trades and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel for business as required.
