Job summary

Tuyoo Games in Singapore is seeking a skilled 2D VFX artist to craft high-quality 2D visual effects for casual mobile titles, including UI feedback, match-3 explosions, and celebratory win-states.

You will implement, tune, and optimize effects inside Cocos Creator, collaborate with local art and product teams, and coordinate with the Beijing development team to ensure smooth asset handoff and technical accuracy. Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, 2D Animation, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in mobile game development, with a proven track record of creating 2D VFX for Casual, Puzzle, or Match-3 games.
• Engine Expertise: Hands-on experience with Cocos Creator is highly preferred (experience with Unity 2D but willing to adapt to Cocos is also welcome).
• Mastery of Photoshop, After Effects, or Animate/Flash for creating stylized 2D sprite sheets and textures.
• Solid understanding of 2D rendering principles, particle systems, and basic custom shader tweaks within Cocos Creator.
• Proficient in using AI image generation tools (e.g., Midjourney, Nano-banana).
• Skilled in writing precise, effective prompts to generate high-quality 2D art assets, textures, and UI elements that match the project's art style.
• Market Sensitivity: A deep understanding of the Western (US/EU) gaming market's aesthetics—vibrant colors, clean shapes, stylized designs, and high visual clarity.
• Professional proficiency in English to align with global market tastes and local teams.
• Fluent in Mandarin (Spoken & Written) to communicate technical specifications and creative feedback effectively with our Beijing team.

Responsibilities

• Design & Create 2D Effects: Author high-quality 2D visual effects (including UI feedback, match-3 explosions, booster/power-up animations, screen transitions, and celebratory win-states) tailored for Western casual audiences
• Elevate "Game Juice": Craft tactile, punchy, and highly rewarding feedback animations that make every swipe, tap, and combo feel incredibly satisfying
• Cocos Creator Integration: Implement, tune, and optimize 2D VFX assets directly within the Cocos Creator environment (particle systems, UI animations, etc.)
• Cross-Border Collaboration: Work closely with our local art and product teams, and collaborate seamlessly with our development team in Beijing to ensure smooth asset handoff and technical implementation
• Performance Optimization: Manage and optimize texture atlases, sprite sheets, and animations to minimize DrawCalls and ensure smooth performance across a wide range of mobile and web platforms
