Job summary

BlackRock is seeking a Data Engineer to join its Information Security organization, supporting the design, build, and operation of our cloud-native data platform that powers critical technology, security, and operational use cases across the firm.

This role spans ingestion through governance, focusing on reliable data pipelines, observability, and secure data workflows in a regulated environment. The ideal candidate thrives end-to-end and emphasizes clean design and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer building production data pipelines.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS-native data services in a regulated/enterprise environment.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with readable, testable code.
• Experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow).
• Solid understanding of data modeling, incremental processing, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS-native data pipelines for batch and event-driven workloads with reliability, scalability, and security.
• Develop and operate data workflows using Apache Airflow for orchestration and Python and SQL for transformations.
• Implement data transformations and models using modern analytics engineering practices (dbt-like patterns, tested transformations).
• Integrate data from cloud services, internal platforms, APIs, and telemetry.
• Partner with Security, Risk, and Operations to translate requirements into durable data solutions.
• Embed data quality, lineage, and observability into pipelines with testing and monitoring.
