Job summary

RisingWave is seeking a backend infrastructure engineer to design and operate the control plane, serverless data-plane extensions, and automation that provisions, scales, monitors, and bills RisingWave clusters. This role spans the control plane, Kubernetes, and multi-cloud IaC, and includes end-to-end ownership of features from design to production support.

You will work across AWS, GCP, and Azure, contributing to observability and cost-attribution while reducing on-call toil and improving

Qualifications

3+ years building and operating backend or infrastructure systems in production.

Responsibilities

Design and build services in our control plane that orchestrate cluster lifecycle (provisioning, scaling, upgrades, restore, teardown).
Build and operate serverless data-plane components that make compute elastic.
Develop agentic workflows that automate cluster maintenance and operations.
Extend our multi-cloud infrastructure automation (Terraform, Kubernetes/EKS and equivalents) across AWS, GCP, and Azure, including the BYOC deployment path.
Improve metering, billing, and cost-attribution pipelines for managed and serving workloads.
Strengthen observability and reliability — metrics, alerting, and dashboards (Prometheus/Grafana) — and reduce operational toil for the on-call rotation.
Own features end to end: write design docs, ship well-tested code, review peers' PRs, and support what you build in production.
