Job summary

Progression Search is seeking a Cloud Engineer in Singapore to manage Azure/cloud environments for the APAC region. You will optimize infrastructure, handle AKS workloads, and implement IaC with Terraform, Bicep and Ansible for scalable operations.

You will collaborate with Global IT teams, ensure security/compliance, and drive continuous improvements in cloud services and governance.

Qualifications

• Degree in IT, CS or related field, or pursuing a relevant qualification.
• Proven Azure cloud experience with PaaS and cloud-native technologies.
• Hands-on AKS and container orchestration experience.
• Strong Linux administration in cloud environments.
• IaC/automation with Terraform, Bicep and Ansible.
• PowerShell and Bash scripting skills; development background advantageous.
• Knowledge of Azure networking, security, identity and governance.
• Certifications such as Azure Administrator or Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD/CKS) desirable or willing to obtain.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Ownership mindset and ability to drive operational improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Cloud Engineer is responsible for managing, troubleshooting, licensing, and updating Azure & M365 cloud environment for the APAC region.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize cloud infrastructure, predominantly in Microsoft Azure, with awareness of multi-cloud environments.
• Manage Azure identity and access, including Azure AD, Conditional Access, and hybrid identity integration using AD Connect.
• Implement and maintain Azure governance, security, compliance, and cost-management controls.
• Monitor cloud environments, resource performance, security posture, and alerts to ensure availability and proactive issue resolution.
• Respond to incidents and operational alerts, ensuring SLA compliance and timely resolution.
• Automate cloud provisioning, configuration, and operational processes using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Bicep, together with PowerShell and Bash scripting.
• Manage containerized workloads, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps, ensuring scalability, performance, and high availability.
• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud resources.
• Perform vulnerability checks, security monitoring, and compliance assessments across cloud environments.
• Collaborate with Global IT teams on cloud integration, migration, deployments, and operational improvements.
• Provide occasional off-hours support for global deployments and critical operational activities across time zones.
• Apply knowledge of on-premises technologies where required for cloud migration and hybrid integration.
• Lead assigned operational initiatives and drive continuous process and service improvements.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the manager.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or currently pursuing a relevant qualification.
• Proven experience operating Microsoft Azure environments, with strong knowledge of PaaS and cloud-native technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container orchestration.
• Strong understanding of Linux administration in cloud environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and Ansible.
• Strong PowerShell and Bash scripting skills; software engineering or development experience is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Azure networking, security, identity, and governance.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD/CKS), or willingness to obtain relevant certifications during probation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an ability to optimize cloud operations and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with Global IT and cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to take ownership of assigned initiatives and drive operational improvements.
• Self‑motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn emerging cloud technologies.
• Team‑oriented with a strong customer‑focused approach.

GOOD TO HAVE

• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments, particularly AWS or GCP, is an advantage.
