Job description

Responsible to: Principal in the execution of professional duties and responsibilities.

As Class Teacher to:

  • Respect and value each child's social, cultural, and religious background, providing mutual respect and tolerance by example.
  • Share in managing the pastoral care, health, welfare, and behaviour of all pupils, especially those within your designated class.
  • Teach a class in accordance with the school's policies and guidelines.
  • Use a variety of appropriate teaching and caring methods to ensure high-quality learning.
  • Provide planning documents with specific learning objectives, differentiated tasks, special needs, extensions, and assessments to the Principal or authorized personnel.
  • Maintain professional dialogue with colleagues regarding children, staff, and school matters, respecting confidentiality.
  • Ensure equal opportunities for all students.
  • Encourage children to take pride in their environment and show respect and concern for others, fostering a caring community.
  • Manage classroom aspects such as equipment care, resource labeling, and maintaining a tidy, organized room.
  • Create an engaging classroom environment that promotes independent learning.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and staff to establish and develop pupil assessment procedures, keeping records and providing reports as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with parents.
  • Guide and motivate classroom helpers in their tasks.

As Team Member to:

  • Collaborate on long-term planning with staff.
  • Participate in school displays and assemblies.
  • Share advice and guidance on school-wide issues.
  • Share expertise with colleagues.
  • Participate in appraisal and in-service training for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • At least 1-2 years of relevant early childhood teaching experience.
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • Willingness to learn about inquiry-based learning.
  • Certified by ECDA in the L2 category.
