Job summary

Allied World is seeking a claims professional to handle Healthcare (Medical malpractice) Casualty and Professional Indemnity across APAC. The role involves registering, reviewing, reserving and paying claims reported by brokers and cedants in line with established standards.

Essential qualifications include a law degree preferred and CGI certification; strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic qualifications; law degree preferred and CGI certification required or to be completed within probation.
• Strong planning, prioritization and organizational discipline for workload management.
• Sound judgment, analytical ability and negotiation skills are essential.
• Good interpersonal and customer service orientation with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Register, review, reserve and pay claims reported by brokers and cedants.
• Investigate, evaluate and resolve assigned claims including non-standard within personal authority level.
• Conduct proactive settlement through negotiation and counsel collaboration on litigation strategy.
• Manage customer/intermediary interactions with high standards of service.
• Organise and use suppliers to ensure timely services for customers.
• Identify non-standard or complex claims and escalate to supervisor.
• Support more experienced colleagues on non-standard cases.
• Assist in preparation of reports or analysis where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and policy requirements.
• Monitor and file reports on cases below deductible; undertake ad-hoc projects.

This position is responsible for handling, processing and monitoring allocated claims — primarily Healthcare (Medical malpractice) Casualty and Professional Indemnity across APAC following the established standards, procedures and guidance to deliver excellent customer service.

Job Duties:

• Register, review, reserve and pay claims reported by brokers and cedants.
• Investigate, evaluate and resolve assigned claims including non-standard within designated personal authority level, in line with established standards, procedures and guideline provided.
• Conduct pro-active settlement through appropriate negotiation including instruct and collaborate with counsel regarding litigation strategy and claim resolution.
• Manage customer/intermediary interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner in order to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction.
• Organise and use suppliers to ensure appropriate and timely services are provided to customers.
• Identify non-standard or complex claims and escalated to supervisor.
• Support more experienced colleagues in the handling of non-standard cases.
• Assist in preparation of reports or analysis where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and policy requirements internally and externally.
• Monitor and file reports on cases below deductible
• Additional duties and responsibilities as warranted, including ad-hoc projects.

Essential Requirements:

• Relevant academic qualifications, law degree is preferred.
• Possess Certificate of General Insurance ("CGI") from the Singapore College of Insurance is a minimum requirement. Where the job holder does not have this minimum qualification then the job holder is expected to complete the examinations and achieve the CGI within the probation period.
• Apply planning, prioritization and organizational discipline in managing workload.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and analytical ability.
• Possess negotiation skills and attention to details.
• A good team player and able to work independently and under pressure.
• Possess good interpersonal skills and customer service-oriented attitude.
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work on relevant PC applications.
