Job Description / Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise earthworks and excavation activities including cutting, filling, trenching, removal of excavated materials and backfilling works.
• Ensure all excavation works comply with BCA, MOM, PUB, LTA and relevant Singapore codes of practice and project specifications.
• Prepare or review method statements, risk assessments (RA), safe work procedures (SWP) and lifting plans related to excavation and earthworks.
• Coordinate with QPs, RE/RTO, safety officers, site supervisors, surveyors and subcontractors to execute works according to drawings and schedule.
• Check and interpret engineering drawings, levels, setting‑out and survey data for excavation limits, depth, slope, and protection works.
• Manage and monitor temporary earth retaining systems, shoring, sheet piles, strutting and slope protection to ensure ground stability and safety.
• Identify and manage underground services/ utilities (water, gas, power, telecom) and ensure protection or diversion is carried out safely.
• Monitor site progress, cost and productivity; prepare daily reports, progress reports and update management/client on work status.
• Work closely with the WSH team to enforce safety rules, conduct toolbox meetings and rectify any unsafe act/condition immediately.
• Handle site inspections with client/consultant authorities and follow up on NCRs, RFIs and site instructions related to excavation works.
• Assist in tendering and estimation for earthworks/excavation scope (quantities, resources, methodology).

Requirements / Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant site experience in earthworks / deep excavation / infrastructure projects in Singapore.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore regulations and standards related to excavation and earthworks (e.g. WSH Act & Regulations, Code of Practice for Deep Excavation, BCA & PUB requirements).
• Hands‑on experience with deep excavation, trenching, earth retaining systems, dewatering, soil improvement and backfilling for building, road or infrastructure projects.
• Able to read and interpret civil/structural drawings, survey drawings and shop drawings; experience with AutoCAD or similar software is an advantage.
• Good understanding of site safety, temporary works and risk control measures for excavation activities.
• Strong coordination, communication and leadership skills to manage site teams and subcontractors.
• Able to work independently under tight schedules, including weekend or night works if required by the project.
