Job description

Our client, an impact investment firm, is hiring an experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational backbone of their Private Equity/Venture Capital (PE/VC) platform. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing all mid and back-office functions to ensure operational excellence, compliance, and scalability.

As COO, you will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to support the firm’s investment activities across Asia, focusing on healthcare, education, sustainability, and climate transition sectors.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily operations across finance, fund administration, compliance, legal, HR, and IT functions.
  • Establish and manage best-in-class operational infrastructure to support existing and future funds.
  • Streamline internal workflows and drive operational efficiency across the organization.
  • Supervise fund accounting, NAV calculations, capital calls/distributions, and investor reporting.
  • Liaise with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and custodians to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls for fund operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. MAS, ACRA) and industry best practices.
  • Oversee AML/KYC processes, compliance monitoring, and internal audit readiness.
  • Manage firm-level risk assessment, mitigation, and reporting.
  • Lead HR operations including recruitment, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture aligned with the firm’s mission.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to support investment and operational workflows.
  • Drive digitalization efforts across CRM, data management, and reporting platforms.
  • Support fundraising processes with operational due diligence materials and LP queries.
  • Manage the preparation of fund-level data rooms, DDQs, and investor onboarding documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in operations within a PE/VC, asset management, or financial services environment.
  • Proven track record in managing fund operations, finance, and compliance functions.
  • Strong understanding of fund structures, LP/GP dynamics, and private market regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working with third-party service providers (fund administrators, legal, tax).
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills with a process-driven mindset.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to interact confidently with senior management, board members, and investors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. CA/CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
