Position Summary:
Indeco Engineers is seeking a seasoned Chief Engineer to lead our engineering division in driving technical excellence, incident response investigations, and innovative vehicle design and fabrication. This role demands a hands-on leader with deep industry experience, capable of fronting discussions with regulatory bodies, solving complex technical issues, and managing a high-performance engineering team to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance across our fleet and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Incident Management & Technical Investigation
Lead root cause investigations for vehicle-related incidents and develop corrective and preventive actions.
Front official communications with regulatory authorities during technical inquiries or incident reviews.
Develop detailed technical reports and ensure clear documentation is submitted to internal and external stakeholders.
Vehicle Design & Fabrication
Oversee the full lifecycle of custom vehicle projects including design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and commissioning.
Work closely with fabrication teams to ensure all engineering drawings and builds meet functional, safety, and compliance standards.
Drive innovation in vehicle architecture, system integration, and operational efficiency.
Team & Technical Leadership
Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers.
Set engineering standards, review technical deliverables, and establish structured processes for continuous improvement.
Foster a culture of accountability, technical curiosity, and cross-functional collaboration.
Authority Liaison & Regulatory Compliance
Serve as the technical point of contact for all government, transport, and certification bodies.
Ensure vehicles and operations meet statutory regulations, certifications, and environmental standards.
Proactively monitor upcoming regulatory changes and drive early compliance strategies.
Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring
Analyse fleet data, sensor feedback, and performance metrics to drive engineering decisions.
Recommend design improvements based on operational feedback and reliability analytics.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
At least 10 years of relevant experience in automotive engineering, with a strong track record in incident investigation and vehicle systems design.
Proven leadership in managing engineering teams and cross-department projects.
Strong understanding of local automotive regulations, certification processes, and safety frameworks.
Excellent communication skills; confident in presenting technical content to internal leadership and external authorities.
Hands-on problem solver with strong technical intuition and a results-driven mindset
