Job description

Overview:

This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP. The Chief Diver performs work below the surface of water, responsible for conducting underwater surveys and executing underwater recoveries. The incumbent is responsible for scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on assigned equipment underwater and on the surface, including underwater construction, maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in planning and execution of underwater surveys and mission recovery operations.
2. Perform scheduled, unscheduled, or emergency maintenance and repairs on all equipment assigned to the Dive Locker.
3. Operate vessels assigned to the Dive Locker as required based on training.
4. Repair and maintain all local buoys and moorings.
5. Perform related work as assigned, including work in port and at sea on board vessels.
6. Use hand tools such as drills, torches, and welding equipment for vessel repair.
7. Work safely in underwater vessels and confined spaces.
8. Ensure safety of all dive team members during operations.
9. Complete all diving-related paperwork, including dive logs, reports, and plans.
10. Oversee administrative and maintenance tasks on hyper/hypobaric systems.
11. Provide 24-hour emergency service for recompression chamber operations.
12. Coordinate with other departments on marine issues and mission requirements.
13. Assist in launching vessel components and rigging operations.
14. Supervise subcontracted labor and oversee daily activities.
15. Eliminate unsafe conditions proactively.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of commercial diving experience.
• Five (5) years of experience supervising hyperbaric chamber operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ten (10) years of commercial diving experience.
• 100 Ton Near Coastal U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Must work in extreme weather conditions, including high temperatures and harsh environments. Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks is required. Use of PPE is mandatory, and compliance with safety regulations is essential.
