Chief Data Scientist

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a seasoned leader to drive and expand the data science capabilities within the organization. This role involves shaping the vision and strategy of the data science function, while mentoring a team to develop impactful analytical models that support key business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and scale the data science team, providing strategic direction, coaching, and technical guidance.
2. Analyze large datasets and deliver meaningful insights through machine learning and deep learning methodologies to drive commercial impact.
3. Design and implement advanced analytical models, including forecasting, recommendation systems, identity graphs, and performance optimization tools.
4. Establish internal best practices and frameworks for data science methodologies and scalable model deployment.
5. Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand product and business requirements, document data integration needs, and resolve data architecture inconsistencies.
6. Serve as a subject matter expert on the organization’s data science tools, platforms, and outputs.
7. Contribute to strategic and ad-hoc data science initiatives aligned with business goals.

Qualifications:

1. PhD or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in machine learning or advanced analytics, with a proven record of designing, developing, and deploying models at scale.
3. Demonstrated leadership experience managing data science teams.
4. Deep technical knowledge and experience applying advanced analytical methods to real-world business problems.
5. Proficiency in at least one statistical tool (e.g., R, SAS) and one programming language (preferably Python, Java, or C++).
6. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
7. Excellent communication abilities with the confidence to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
8. Basic knowledge of data engineering and data architecture principles is an advantage.
